Position Summary

The Bilingual Spanish Speaking Early Interventionist (EI) provides developmental therapy services to families with children with developmental delays and disabilities from birth to 5 years of age. Goals will be targeted during every day routines utilizing the Family Guided Routines Based Intervention (FGRBI) Approach. Services are provided in the child's home or childcare setting throughout Shelby County with the Pediatric Learning Center, Inc.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with service coordinators, teachers, and other therapists on the team to achieve optimal outcomes for the child and family.
  • Implement coaching strategies utilizing the Family Guided Routines Based Intervention (FGRBI) model of early intervention.
  • Record and maintain documentation of services and contacts within set timelines.
  • Work with families from various cultures, backgrounds, and languages.
  • Attend team meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  • Complies with all policies and procedures established by the Pediatric Learning Center, Inc.
  • Complies with the policies, procedures and regulations of the Tennessee Early Intervention System (TEIS).
  • Works closely with volunteers, community partners and other pediatric professionals.

Experience Requirements

  • Experience working with young children and/or individuals with disabilities and their families.
  • Ability to manage your own work schedule – including scheduling sessions and make-up sessions and completing required paperwork timely.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Special Education, Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Studies (child development), Early Intervention, Deaf Education, Visual Disabilities, Special Education K-12, Elementary Education, Communication Disorders and Speech Language Pathology along with experience with young children and/or individuals with disabilities.
  • OR, Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, Education Administration or Sociology along with a minimum of 3 years of experience with children with disabilities (0-5 years old) and their families.
