he Friends for All Corporation Bilingual Mobile Unit Specialist/CMA will provide STI testing, STI counseling, and referrals in the community via a mobile clinic. This person will also serve as a liaison and interpreter for the Spanish speaking population.
Responsibilities
- Assist in identifying and organizing outreach testing events
- Transport and setup mobile unit for use at events, organizations and other areas in Shelby County, as well as adjacent counties in TN, AR, and MS. (special license not required)
- Maintain clean and organized work areas on the unit
- Provide clinical and non-clinical testing for STI’s and other pertinent labs
- Perform phlebotomy and other lab duties including collection of urine, blood, and swabs.
- Conduct intake, conduct needs assessment, and collect necessary documents on clients presenting for services in office, over the phone, or in an outreach session
- Obtain and record vital signs including temperature, weight, height, and blood pressure
- Work with care team to provide and coordinate care for clients
- Prepare and administer medications and immunizations as delegated by the licensed provider.
- Provide wound care and changing dressings as delegated by the licensed provider.
- Provide STI prevention services such as condom distribution, PrEP navigation, risk reduction counseling, and education
- Discuss treatment procedures, healthcare needs, and/or any health-related concerns with patients, as needed.
- Provide and track receipt of both internal and external referrals
- Conduct client follow ups to confirm care addressing client’s needs has been provided
- Document and notify licensed provider of patient concerns.
- Assist with submitting pre-authorizations for medical procedures and medications.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens and perform basic laboratory duties, as delegated.
- Serve as an interpreter for Spanish clients presenting for services
- Complete proper, accurate and timely documentation of services in writing and in Athena, CAREware, Evaluation Web, Redcap, Apricot, and any other database, as required.
Experience Requirements
- Fluent in Spanish (must be able to translate medical terminology)
- Certified Medical Assistant
- Two years previous experience working with HIV/AIDS population preferred
- Two years previous experience drawing labs preferred
