The School Operations Assistant plays a vital hands-on role in keeping our preschool running
smoothly, safely, and efficiently during peak operating hours. Working part-time from 8:15 AM to
2:00 PM, this role serves as the physical link between our classrooms, kitchen building, and
administrative operations. Primary duties include transporting meals and dishes, processing
classroom laundry, managing midday waste, assisting the Chef, and maintaining clean,
well-stocked shared spaces. This physically active role requires continuous movement, bending,
lifting, and proactive multi-tasking to support teachers, kitchen staff, and administrators
throughout the day. The School Operations Assistant reports to the Program Manager.

-8:15 am – 2:00 pm, Monday – Friday
-Closed during MSCS holidays/breaks
-Pay: $15/hour
-Work permission and a clean background check required
El Asistente de Operaciones Escolares desempeña un papel práctico y fundamental para
mantener nuestro preescolar funcionando de manera fluida, segura y eficiente durante las
horas de mayor actividad. Con un horario de medio tiempo de 8:15 a. m. a 2:00 p. m., este
puesto sirve como el enlace físico entre nuestros salones de clase, el edificio de la cocina y las
operaciones administrativas.
Las responsabilidades principales incluyen: El transporte de comidas y platos, la lavandería de
los salones de clase, la gestión de la basura al mediodía, el apoyo al Chef y el mantenimiento
de espacios compartidos limpios y bien abastecidos. Este puesto físicamente activo requiere
movimiento continuo, agacharse, levantar peso y realizar múltiples tareas de manera proactiva
para apoyar a los maestros, al personal de cocina y a los administradores durante todo el día.
El Asistente de Operaciones Escolares reporta al Gerente del Programa.
Horario
-8:15 am – 2:00 pm, lunes a viernes

Responsibilities
- Transport meal trays, milk, and snack items back and forth between the kitchen building, classrooms, and teacher spaces according to daily schedules.
- Collect dirty dishes, utensils, and trays from classrooms, teacher spaces, and the staff breakroom, returning them to the kitchen promptly.
- Assist the Chef with dishwashing, sanitizing food service tools, and general support as requested.
- Manage daily classroom laundry, ensuring soiled linens, bibs, and towels are washed, dried, folded, and returned.
- Remove all trash from common areas and assist classrooms with filled trash or heavy trash disposal as needed.
- Assist in bringing strollers from storage to the front of the building in the mornings and ensure they are returned to storage spaces at the end of the day.
- Conduct daily exterior grounds checks to pick up litter, debris, and keep outdoor play and entry areas safe and clean
- Act as primary responder for daytime spills, messes, and urgent cleaning requests across classrooms and common areas.
- Maintain a clean, tidy staff breakroom, including wiping down surfaces and washing breakroom dishes.
- Monitor and restock paper goods, hand soap, sanitizer and cleaning supplies in all bathrooms, classrooms, offices and closets.
- Sanitize high-traffic areas as needed – entry doors, light switches, door handles, etc. and maintain hallways and entryways clean and clear.
- Track inventory and directly report supply purchase needs and shortages to the Preschool Director.
- Demonstrate punctuality and a hard work ethic.
- Report any concerns or problems to your supervisor and/or the Director.
- Maintain accurate records of all information (maintenance logs, etc).
- Communicate clearly and in a timely manner with your supervisor.
- Approach all participants respectfully and in a way that exhibits God’s grace.
- Engage in a professional manner and maintain a professional workspace.

- Show flexibility and a team spirit when asked to assist in other duties outside of the normal job description.
Experience Requirements
- Experience working with the Hispanic population in Memphis
- Experience in handyman work, kitchen or service work, and/or janitorial work
- Timeliness
- A team spirit and sense of care and ownership over the state of the building–shared spaces and classrooms
- An eye for detail in cleanliness and maintenance
- Ability to move about quickly and to lift/carry at least 40 lbs.
