Optical Technician Job duties will include:
Greet and welcome incoming patients.
Perform examination pretesting; visual acuity, tonometry, auto refraction, lensometry.
Perform visual field test, OCT, retinal photos, and other digital testing technologies.
Document in electronic medical record.
Train patients how to use their contact lenses.
Assist with optical sales and dispensing tasks.
Work with patients to find correct eyewear.
Maintain inventory on office equipment, inventory, and optical ordering.
Perform lens edging.
Verify prescriptions for both eyewear and contact lenses.
Make referrals and handle incoming referral requests.
Verify and confirm patient’s vision and medical insurance.
Assist with insurance billing and posting processes.
Prepare patient charts and ensure confidentiality of all records.
Maintain patient records in billing and scheduling system.
Perform simple bookkeeping such as collecting all patient balances and copays and
posting accurately.
Assist in office in other areas, as needed.
Remain knowledgeable of products and services the office has to offer.
Learning the needs of the doctor for each exam type and performing tests accurately

Experience Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in optometry
- Excellent Customer service skills
- Detail oriented, efficient at multitasking, working well with others and outgoing personality.
- Excellent computer skills are a must.
- Professional demeanor, appearance, and dependable work ethic
Education Requirements
- High school degree or equivalent
