Position Summary
The Sales Lead supervises Lake's Edge Gift Shop and staffed Sales Associates, as well as all other Park merchandise and retail locations, acting as lead associate in the daily retail operations at Shelby Farms Park. Key duties include preparing all retail locations for business by distributing register cash banks and unlocking work areas, assisting associates in monitoring inventory and business activity throughout the day, and providing support where needed, all while maintaining an atmosphere of warm, friendly customer service to SFPC visitors and guests. This position will report directly to the Visitor Services Supervisor, working closely with other Coordinators and Supervisors in the Sales + Events department to meet overall guest experience, revenue, and fundraising goals for Shelby Farms Park.

Responsibilities

  • ● Lead the Park standard and reputation of above and beyond customer service.
  • ● Oversee store staff during scheduled shifts: organizing daily/ weekly tasks, training employees, and ongoing coaching with the Supervisor.
  • ● Markets merchandise by studying advertising, sales promotion, and display plans/ store design.
  • ● Collaborate with the Visitor Services Supervisor to research new product ideas and source vendors.
  • ● Assist with merchandise sales for fundraising events throughout the year, including Starry Nights holiday light show.
  • ● Control the cash handling functions of individual payments and opening/closing procedures, including POS system, registers, and daily reporting.

Experience Requirements

  • ● Ability to learn and train others on POS software and cash controls
  • ● Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, days, weekends, and holidays

Education Requirements

  • ● High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration or relevant field preferred
  • ● 2 years retail management, rentals, park, or summer camp experience, 1 year of lead or managerial experience preferred
  • ● Experience working POS and cash register
