The Patient Services Assistant – Medical provides services to patients who come to Church Health for medical care. This role is essential to ensure a positive experience for our patients, as the PSA is the first point of contact in the office. Patient Service Assistants should have excellent communication and customer service skills, a professional demeanor, and the ability to multitask in a busy office environment. This position will manage patient communications, scheduling, and administrative tasks to support the smooth operation of the medical practice.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent customer service and communication to Church Health patients.
- Check patients in and out for their appointments: including eligibility checks, payments owed for treatment on DOS, and payments owed in the future for large dental cases.
- Collect and digitally store patient information: maintain patient records including demographic information, dental guidelines, proof of income documentation, and medical histories
- Answer and accurately route all incoming calls received on the Center’s main incoming line to the appropriate employee. Type messages from patients and route to the appropriate personnel. Manage phone calls, respond to patient inquiries, and provide general information about services.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring optimal use of the provider’s schedule.
- Verify eligibility for services and provide alternate resources for those who don’t qualify for the program.
- Assist patients with questions about billing, treatment costs, and split payments on multi-step procedures.
- Prepare reconciliation report by matching payments collected and balancing funds at end of each day, running reports as indicated by the PSA Supervisor.
- Follow office protocols for patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
Experience Requirements
- 1-3 years of experience is preferred.
Education Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Associate’s Degree or Certification: Education or certification in a relevant field is preferred.
