Protect Our Aquifer (POA) is seeking a dynamic and community-driven Advocacy Coordinator to help grow, educate, and mobilize water warriors in the region. The Advocacy Coordinator will balance program implementation with grassroots organizing, equipping residents to take meaningful action in aquifer protection and water justice campaigns. The ideal candidate is a
people-oriented organizer who thrives on relationship building, is passionate about clean drinking water, and can work with a variety of personalities. This role requires strong communication skills, project coordination, and the ability to track metrics for program evaluation.
This position is full-time (40 hours per week, salaried), though part-time arrangements will be considered for strong candidates. Part-time applicants should indicate the responsibilities they can take on and the number of hours they can consistently commit each week. Evening and weekend work is required to support community events and is seasonally heavy in Spring & Fall.

Responsibilities
- Implement Water Warriors Training Program
- Coordinate Aquifer Action Meetings
- Coordinate Toxic Tours
- Lead Volunteer Recruitment & Coordination
- Technical Allyship with Community Members
- Track outcomes on community-facing programs & analyze feedback
- Contribute written communications & media content
- Provide input on weekly Water Wednesday social media series
- Support media outreach & prepare staff/community members for press interviews
Experience Requirements
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to connect with a variety of backgrounds
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable with public speaking.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends for community events.
- Applicants from a Frontline Community with special interest in environmental justice or water issues and are preferred.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit program management, community organizing, environmental studies, public policy, or related field
