POSITION: URBANART COMMISSION – COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER (FULL TIME)
The UrbanArt Commission (UAC) is seeking a Communications Manager to enhance the organization’s visibility and clearly articulate its mission to a wide audience. Through engaging storytelling and effective communication strategies, the Communications Manager will be instrumental in highlighting UAC’s significant contributions across the city, actively promoting the organization’s programs, and making sure UAC’ss mission is clearly communicated and appreciated within the community. This position collaborates closely with the Executive Director, Operations Manager, Program Management team, and Development Officer to elevate UAC’s principal initiatives, like the Public Art Collector initiative and calls for artists.
Reports to: Executive Director
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Collect and create engaging content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) and email newsletters to highlight UAC programs and events.
+ Write press releases and manage media relations to enhance UAC’s media coverage.
+ Track and analyze performance and engagement metrics to strategize for increased visibility.
+ Lead the update of UAC’S website content in support of the Program Management team, utilizing information provided by them to ensure consistent and effective communication.
+ Capture moments at UAC events, supporting the organization’s storytelling and promotional efforts.
+ Plan and manage logistics for events and workshops, supporting the engagement with UAC’s public art collection.
+ Develop and produce print and promotional materials for UAC, enhancing public engagement with our programs and events.
+ Collaborate with Program Managers to promote calls for artists.
+ Implement strategic plan alongside UAC team.
+ Other duties as assigned.
Experience Requirements
- Detail oriented, highly motivated, and organized + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills + 1-3 years experience in content creation, social media, or newsletter creation + Proficiency using Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn; Constant Contact or similar marketing platform, preferred + Proficiency in Adobe platforms, preferred (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) + Able to work nights and weekends, as needed, for events + Interest in a lively, creative work culture + Enjoys maintaining multiple tasks and processes between departments + Interest or experience in visual art, public art, and/or neighborhood engagement a plus + Commitment to UAC values of equity, transparency, and growth, with particular focus on centering people and Memphis in our work
