A Brief Overview
The Outpatient Patient Access Specialist I serve as the primary access point for patients seeking appointments with providers in clinical practices. This position is responsible for the gathering, entry and verification of registration information. In addition, this position is responsible for the effective scheduling of patient appointments in a timely and accurate manner.
Responsibilities
- Answers incoming call to support patients’ needs, as well as making outgoing calls when necessary.
- Completes and verifies registration information for each patient
- Informs patients of expected co-pays as well as any outstanding self-pay balances.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient, department and hospital information.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience clerical, customer service, or related experience such as medical office experience
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent with related course work required
